Celebrating Roma Culture Through Film, Music, and Art

Roma Versitas Kosovo, in collaboration with Cultiplay, is proud to announce the beginning of the Roma Realities Festival, a two-day celebration of Roma culture and artistic excellence. Taking place on December 14–15, 2024, in Pristina (ABC Kino) and Zagreb (Kali Sarah), the festival will spotlight Roma artists, filmmakers, musicians, and cultural advocates.

The event is themed “Roma Realities-ROMANE QAQIPYA” and aims to highlight the richness of Roma culture while challenging stereotypes and fostering dialogue around issues of representation and inclusion.


Festival Highlights
Day 1 – December 14, 2024 (Zagreb, Kali Sarah)
• Film Screening: Roma Realities (Romane Qaqipya), followed by a Q&A with Roma Versitas Kosovo.
• Music Performance: Xhemalj Jimmy Mustafa, celebrated for blending traditional Roma music with modern elements, will perform live.
• Networking Opportunities: Engage with artists, advocates, and attendees during the opening ceremony and cocktail reception.

Day 2 – December 15, 2024 (Pristina, ABC Kino)
• Film Screenings: Titles including Lives and O Cacipe Dukhala 1 Delo 2021, with interactive sessions featuring filmmakers and cultural experts like Ferdane Asllani of Balkan Sunflowers Kosovo.
• Theater Performance: Edis Galushi’s play My Name is Delthan, an intimate exploration of Roma history and identity.
• Panel Discussion: Experts and artists will delve into the struggles and efforts to preserve Roma history and culture.

About the Organizers
Roma Versitas Kosovo (RVK) has been a pioneer in promoting education, human rights, and multicultural coexistence in Kosovo since its founding in 2017. The festival aligns with RVK’s mission to empower marginalized communities and elevate their voices through art and education.
Cultiplay is committed to lifelong learning and social cohesion through cultural and educational initiatives, focusing on ethnic minorities and underserved communities.

• Jimmy Mustafa, renowned musician and founder of Music 4 All, promoting music education for Roma youth.
• Edis Galushi, a cultural activist and theater artist advocating for authentic representation of Roma stories.
• Avni Mustafa, Executive Director of RVK and a leading advocate for Roma inclusion in Kosovo.
