The festival celebrates Roma identity, creativity, and the power of film to challenge stereotypes and inspire change.
Different Realities Festival 2025 – Celebrating Roma Voices Through Art, Film, and Dialogue
Prishtina, October 21, 2025 — Roma Versitas Kosovo, in cooperation with regional and artistic partners, proudly announces the Different Realities Festival 2025, a two-day celebration of Roma art, culture, and lived experiences. The festival will take place in Prishtina (October 22) and Tirana (October 23), bringing together artists, activists, and community members from across the Western Balkans.
Through film, visual art, music, poetry, and dialogue, the Different Realities Festival highlights the diversity and creativity within Roma communities, while challenging stereotypes and promoting interethnic understanding through artistic expression.
Festival Concept
The Different Realities Festival brings together art, film, music, and personal stories that reflect the richness of Roma experiences. Through exhibitions, documentary screenings, public conversations, and live performances, the festival aims to amplify authentic voices, foster empathy, and create meaningful dialogue between communities.
This year’s program features a powerful selection of visual art, storytelling, artistic performances, and panel discussions, showcasing Roma creators, activists, and cultural figures from the region and beyond. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore untold histories, lived realities, and expressions of identity, while directly engaging with artists, journalists, musicians, and community voices.
Prishtina Edition – October 22 | Kino ABC
The festival opens in Prishtina with a vibrant evening of artistic performances and film screenings, including the short films “Roma Realities” by Roma Versitas Kosovo, “Inside” by Andrijano Dzeladin, and “Horo ano Boro” by Benjamin Menekshe. The event also features a live performance by the Jimmy Mustafa Band and a visual art exhibition by Ridvan Gashi.

Tirana Edition – October 23 | Tulla Cultural Center
The second day continues the celebration in Tirana at Tulla Cultural Center, with screenings of “Roma Realities” and “Horo ano Boro”, a poetry performance by Visar Kukaqi, and the opening of an exhibition by Albanian Roma artist Ferdinand Koçi, curated by Sead Kazanxhiu.
The day will conclude with the Human Library – Living Stories of Roma Voices from Kosovo, an intimate session where Roma storytellers share personal narratives from before and after the war, followed by a community cocktail.
